HOW IT WORKS

LixiLab's technology applies the dead bacteria in a dehydrated hydrogel matrix, made of a chitosan and alginate blend, that works in water and soil.

We chose chitosan and alginate since these biopolymers are non-toxic, biocompatible, biodegradable and are obtained in large quantities all over the world at a low cost.

SOIL OR WATER

- The main difference between water and soil systems is the efficiency because it is easier to bioremediate in water.

- The system is used in soils when these are already contaminated with heavy metals while in water is used to prevent the heavy metals reaching the food chain.

- If there a water source close both systems would be used because metal can be there and then it would be irrigation water.
